National Natural Family Planning Awareness Week: July 21-27, 2013

The US Conference of Catholic Bishops has designated this week as National Natural Family Planning Awareness Week.

An excellent summary of the benefits of Natural Family Planning can be found here.

The Couple-to-Couple-League is an excellent organization that provides NFP resources, classes, and educational materials. They have affiliated local teaching couples throughout the country.

Contraception, Why Not by Dr. Janet Smith is the most persuasive presentation of the Church's teaching on artificial contraception I have come across. The first time I heard it, it really blew away any reservations or misunderstandings I had about the issue. Contraception, Why Not? is available here in CD format. I highly recommend it.

One More Soul is another excellent organization that has a variety of resources related to natural planning including and invaluable on-line directory of NFP only physicians.

My thoughts on the 42nd Anniversary of Pope Paul VI's prophetic encyclical Humanae Vitae which reaffirmed the Church's opposition to artificial contraception can be found HERE.

Here are two must-read essays on the topic of NFP:

"The Truth About Natural Family Planning"

"The Benefits of Natural Family Planning"

  1. NFP doesn't work since women ovulate 2 & 3 times per month and sperm can live 10+ days. Moreover, semen has ovulation-triggering chemicals and NFP users have high rates of "accidental" children with birth defects and intersex gay syndromes.

    1. Not true.

NFP is incredibly effective as demonstrated by many studies.

  2. Also, Humanae Vitae isn't valid since its author funded Nazi Ustasha death camps in Croatia that slaughtered 1 MILLION Serb Christian "heretics", including pregnant women and their "heretic" fetuses. Cardinal Montini (Paul VI) insisted on funding Ante Pavelic's ethnic cleansing in spite of gruesome Italian newspaper accounts of these genocides. Montini and Pavelic should have been hung at Nuremburg.

    1. Making such charges without providing evidence is little more than character assassination.

The truth of Humanae Vitae is more than amply demonstrated by the societal wreckage that has been left in the wake of the sexual revolution.
